Welcome to Fifty-Two Photos.

In 2010 – before the age of Instagram and good mobile phone cameras – I did a 365 project where I took at least one photograph every day and posted it online. This is much harder to do than you would think and many times I found myself at ten minutes before midnight frantically searching for something that would make an interesting photo. Some days the photos were amazing; other days, not so much, but I always felt that the exercise helped me to grow and develop as a photographer and trained my eye and to find beauty in anything.
At the beginning of 2016, I joined a short-lived local Facebook group who were undertaking weekly photographic challenges based on tasks set by the Dogwood 52 week photography challenge. The group managed to keep their enthusiasm for the project for a few weeks, but eventually the challenges weren’t posted and the submissions petered out. I’ve decided to try the challenge again this year as a solo project and hope that this website and the Instagram account will give me the impetus to see the challenge through to completion.
This part – the ‘Stories’ – will include any interesting back stories or additional information relating to a particular task, though the idea is not to write about every single challenge. Additional behind the scenes pictures and stories will also be posted on Instagram, so be sure to follow us there.
